TikTok cuts 250 employees and closes Nashville office October 5
TikTok is letting go of 250 employees and shutting down its Nashville office, with the closure set for October 5.
The office housed some members of TikTok's content moderation team and was leased in 2024.
Zanna Crowley, a spokesperson for the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, confirmed the move, which was first reported by The New York Times.

According to Crowley, this is all about "streamlining our operations and better aligning our teams for long-term growth."
Like other social media platforms, TikTok is now leaning more on AI to spot harmful content instead of relying as much on human moderators.
Despite these changes, Crowley emphasized that TikTok remains "fully committed to providing secure, safe, and positive experiences" for its 200 million US users.
