Vedanta pushes demerger deadline to March 2026

Business

Vedanta Ltd, led by Anil Agarwal, has moved its big company split (demerger) deadline to March 31, 2026.
The shift comes as the company waits for green lights from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and other government bodies—a process that's taking longer than expected.
This isn't the first extension; earlier this year, Vedanta had already pushed the date back from March 31, 2025, to September 30, 2025.

NCLT hearing on Vedanta's demerger set for October 8

The NCLT hearing on Vedanta's demerger is now set for October 8 after being delayed due to questions from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas about some disclosures.
Originally, Vedanta wanted to split into six separate companies—including ones focused on aluminum and oil & gas—but now plans to keep its base metal business together.
Even with these bumps in the road, CEO Deshnee Naidoo of Vedanta Resources says she's still optimistic about getting it all done this financial year, stressing that her focus is on the restructuring of the company.
