Voltas reports 76% drop in Q2 profit: Here's why

Business

Voltas, known for its air conditioners, just reported a sharp 76% drop in profit for July-September 2025—down to ₹31.5 crore from last year's ₹132.8 crore.
The main reason? Fewer people bought ACs this quarter, with overall revenue slipping by over 10%.

Cooling products sales fell by 23%

Their cooling products segment (think room ACs) saw sales fall by 23%.
Blame it on a not-so-hot summer, early rains, and even a GST rate cut that made buyers hold off on purchases.
This left stores with extra stock and slowed things down.

Other divisions helped soften the blow

Even though the cooling business struggled, Voltas's other divisions helped soften the blow—especially their electro-mechanical projects, which grew nearly 10%.
The company's MD Mukundan Menon C P admitted it was a tough quarter but sounded hopeful that lower GST and the upcoming BEE efficiency transition could boost future demand.
