Warner Music and Udio squash lawsuit, team up for AI music platform
Warner Music Group and AI startup Udio have ended their copyright battle and are now joining forces to launch an AI-powered music service in 2026.
The deal means Warner's artists and songwriters who opt in will get credit and payment when their work is used on the new service.
Remix, cover, or create—artists still get paid
Udio's upcoming platform will let users remix, cover, or make new songs using licensed voices and tracks from artists who opt in.
It's designed as a closed system with extra protections for creators' rights—and if you're an artist or songwriter on board, you'll share in the revenue too.
Big labels making moves (but not all)
This follows a similar deal Udio made with Universal Music Group last month.
Sony Music is still holding out, having filed lawsuits against Udio and rival Suno last year.
Meanwhile, Warner just announced another partnership—with Stability AI—to build pro-level AI tools for musicians.
