    Wanted Manipuri separatist arrested in Delhi

    A Manipuri separatist leader, wanted in several terror attacks in Manipur, was finally arrested in the capital. Delhi police in a statement confirmed that the separatist leader, Khoirom Ranjit along with a woman, was arrested in Mayur Vihar.     Sanitation workers' strike enters 8th day

    Sanitation workers' strike for non-payment of salaries for last three months entered the 8th day today. Protests have led to mounds of garbage in several parts of East Delhi dumped by frustrated workers. Workers have pinned blame on AAP whereas Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is pointing the finger towards BJP-run civic bodies. The workers have said the strike will continue till demands are met.

    Metro commuters hassled for several hours

    For five hours yesterday morning, commuters on busy Noida-Dwarka Blue line, were significantly inconvenienced due to signalling glitches. Metro trains took twice the amount of time to get to their destination and although the problem was fixed by noon, the glitch had led to trains bunching up. This is the second time in 10 days that technical glitches have left commuters stranded and delayed.

    King Khan in Delhi for a birthday bash

    Shah Rukh Khan could be making an appearance in Delhi on January 20. Delhi businessman, Vivek Khushalani, who is throwing a party on his 50th birthday, expects close friends, Shah Rukh and Smriti Irani to attend the party at a Delhi hotel. According to insiders, formal invites have been sent out and dress code for the evening is reportedly 'gold and black'.

    Mortuary for 'luxury cars'

    Police investigation into thefts of luxury cars from South Delhi took an interesting turn. Delhi police stumbled upon a 'mortuary' of stolen cars in Meerut, UP. Reportedly, thieves stole cars and then dismantled it at a spot near Lisari Gate and to evade scrutiny sold car parts in other UP cities. 4 members of the gang were arrested who confessed to their modus operandi.

    Haryanvi radio in Australia

    A 28-year old software engineer, Arun Malik, living in Brisbane has created a radio app dedicated solely to Haryanvi. Malik, who hails from Haryana, requested an Indian radio channel in Brisbane to play a Haryanvi song but was rejected. He then created a radio app which airs songs and programmes on social issues in Haryanvi. In 6 months, it's been downloaded 10,000 times.

    The mercury drops even further

    Delhi is in the grip of a cold wave which has seen the mercury drop to 2 degrees Celsius, the coldest temperature this season. Chilly winds are making things even more difficult as the persisting poor visibility is throwing rail services out of gear: flight services however weren't affected. The maximum temperature hovers around 17 degrees, three degrees below the season's average.
