There was a theft at Kailash Satyarthi's residence on February 7. Various stories have reported theft of different items, including his Nobel certificate and a replica of the prize. 'Air pollution kills eight in Delhi everyday': SC
Air pollution kills roughly 3,000 citizens a year in Delhi alone, and every third child has weak lungs, said the Supreme Court. It has ordered the Centre to implement a ban on pet-coke and furnace oil used by industries in the NCR within four weeks. Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar has sought eight weeks to find a safer substitute for the fuels.

IT Commissioner, kin booked for illicit assets worth crores
IT Commissioner Harivansh Kumar Choudhary and his wife have been booked by the CBI over illicit assets worth Rs 4.28 crore. The CBI seized incriminating documents from raids at 12 of his premises in Delhi, Chennai, Surat and elsewhere. Premises of associated chartered accountants were also searched. Properties in his and his kin's names were found disproportionate to known sources of his income.

Traders' shutdown against 'vehicle-free' CP
Traders in Connaught Place have declared a shutdown on February 7 against the government's plan of making the inner and middle circles vehicle-free. Sellers are concerned about financial losses, but NDMC has assured them of no such problem. The drive was to start on February 1, but has been delayed. The traders' association has already rejected two NDMC proposals. Talks with stakeholders are on.

Youth killed for protesting harassment of friend
18-year-old Manoj of Kirti Nagar was stabbed to death by four youths when he confronted them for harassing his friend's sister. Manoj and his friend had clashed with the youths previously too over similar issues. Both groups had filed FIRs against each other and later withdrawn them. Angry locals damaged public property, set fire to police posts and attacked cops with stones alleging inaction.

New multistorey apartments for slum dwellers across Delhi
Mult-storey government apartments are set to come up at four locations for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Lajpat Nagar, Mongol Puri, Ambedkar Nagar and more. Clusters that have come up after January 1, 2015, will be demolished, but wouldn't be eligible for rehabilitation under the scheme. Four shelters have also been approved at Geeta Colony, Dwarka, Nangloi and Rohini to accommodate 1,200 people.

Jats threaten wider agitation if demands not met soon
The Jat community has threatened wider protests if their demands, including reservation in jobs and withdrawal of FIRs against last year's agitators, are not met by February 12. Several organisations have distanced themselves from the stir this time. The limelight is on Rohtak, while the movement is spreading to Jind, Panipat, Sonepat and more. It will be taken to Delhi's Bawana and MP's Barwani.

Noida Authority to sterilise dogs due to stray menace
The Noida Authority has been given till June 30 to set in motion a plan for mass sterilisation of strays. SPCA, who earlier held responsibility, faced backlash as it hadn't take any action since long. Locals complained the menace is a problem for women, children and senior citizens, and there are cases of dog bite in the city almost everyday.
