Gurugram: 'Project Zindagi' focuses on 'stress-free environment' for students
Focusing on the pivotal issue of learning disabilities and stress, Gurugram authorities launched 'Project Zindagi' yesterday, which aims to create a "stress-free environment" for students. The district-level initiative will include yoga sessions, mental healthcare activities and anger management classes for students. Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh, while launching, said the project will first be steered towards 15 government schools.
45 teachers from the entire district will get special training
From every institution, about four teachers will be trained under this scheme. A total of 45 teachers from the entire district will get training. Training sessions will run for 48 hours, said Gunjan Gahlot, Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate (CMGGA) for Gurugram. "During these sessions, teachers will be handed checklists using which they will identify students with learning disabilities," she added.
In the next phase, private institutions would also be covered
The project will encompass five schools in Gurugram, three in Sohna, four in Pataudi, and three in Farrukhnagar. Singh hopes in the next phase, private institutions would also be covered. "The aim is to identify learning disabilities, which often remain undetected. If there are any physical or mental obstructions or deficiencies in their learning environment, the project will tackle that too accordingly," he added.
Since February, Gurugram school authorities started several programs to reduce exam-related stress. This was after a class-XI student of a reputed Gurugram school murdered his fellow-mate to postpone exams and PTA meetings. His school, Ryan International, then organized a workshop titled 'Managing exam anxiety' for students of Classes 9-12. CBSE also started a toll-free helpline service for children in the same month.
