    Clashes erupted at Ramjas College between ABVP and AISA members, divided over a scheduled seminar featuring Umar Khalid that was cancelled earlier. Police also allegedly assaulted journalists from Times of India, Hindustan Times, Times Now and Quint, among others. A case has been filed.     Gurugram 18th of 21 Haryana districts in sex ratio

    Of 21 Haryana districts, Gurugram stands 18th in child sex ratio, with 883 girls for 1,000 boys. The district advisory committee has tightened rules to correct the situation. Anyone bringing in an ultrasound machine from outside Gurugram has to obtain an NoC from the relevant administration. Four ultrasound machines previously confiscated were also released after due formalities. Four new ultrasound centres were also approved.

    Delhi Police collaborates with chowkidars for better security

    Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik launched the 'Prahari' scheme on February 22, which aims to revive the chowkidari system to curb crime. Under Prahari, police will coordinate with local chowkidars for more efficient patrolling. About 1,000 chowkidars have already been trained and provided security kits containing jacket, cap, torch, shoes, whistles, sticks and more. At the launch event, Delhi Police felicitated 10 best chowkidars.

    Cycle sharing services at Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh and more

    The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has planned to launch cycle sharing services in 25 congested areas including Chandni Chowk, New Delhi Metro Station, Sadar Bazaar and Karol Bagh. At a membership fee of Rs. 1,000 (credit card holders) and Rs. 1,500 (non-credit card holders), people can take cycles from 8am-8pm at Rs. 10/hour. The service will be outsourced to a specialized agency.

    Fortis doctors remove 'world's largest adrenal tumour' weighing 11.5kg

    Doctors at Fortis removed an 11.5-kg adrenal tumour, the world's largest, from a 55-year-old patient. The abnormal growth was detected after Ashwini Marwah came in to be tested for a bariatric surgery. With a BMI of 48, he was suffering from several complications, but was unaware of the tumour. The hospital said the record for the largest adrenal adenoma removed is 7.5 kg (2013).

    Notices sent to 222 Khan Market establishments over safety

    The NDMC has sent notices to owners of 222 business establishments in Khan Market, seeking certificates to prove structural safety of the buildings. They have been given time till March 6 for submitting the necessary documents. This comes after two structures in CP collapsed within two weeks. Safety of buildings at various other places, including Khan Market and Hauz Khas Village, was questioned afterwards.

    Old Delhi to be made encroachment-free by March 20

    Old Delhi is set to become encroachment-free by March 20, with the Shahjahanbad Redevelopment Corporation aiming to remove all illegal encroachments, unauthorized parking and chaotic traffic from the area by then. The ultimate goal is to make Chandni Chowk a pedestrian zone, which can't be addressed before resolving 15 basic issues first, say officials. The HC has asked for names of officials in charge.

    Asia's biggest TB hospital in Delhi to expand services

    The Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine and Tuberculosis in GTB Nagar, Asia's biggest TB hospital, is set to expand operations in the next two-years and become a multi-specialty hospital. It has already started a maternity-department, and conducted over 1,300 eye-surgeries in six months. Gynaecology and pediatric departments are in the works in the "underutilized" hospital. Patients want an improvement in existing services first.
