What's the story

According to the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) report, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has been declared the second best airport in the world. The airport's ASQ score increased from 4.96 in 2015 to 4.99 in 2016. The report, released by Airports Council International (ACI), declared Incheon in South Korea as the best airport worldwide. Delhi's Nehru Place to be revamped for Rs.92 crore

Union Urban Development Ministry has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to undertake the renovation of Nehru Place, Bhikaji Cama and Basant Lok Market. The decision followed South Delhi Municipal Corporation's proposal of revamping Nehru Place for Rs. 92cr. Pavements, buildings, toilets, and pedestrian pathways will be fixed and repaired as a part of the assignment.

Plane Crash

Air-ambulance crash lands in Thailand, 2 doctors injured, pilot dead

An air-ambulance from India crash landed in Thailand enroute to Bangkok; the pilot is dead and 2 doctors from Gurugram's Medanta Hospital are injured. According to a tweet by EAM Sushma Swaraj, the plane was carrying 5 people and caught fire before its crash. The charter plane, belonging to Delhi-based Air Charter Services, was hired to pick up a patient from Bangkok.

LG sings praises for AAP at Budget session

The five-day Budget session of the Delhi Assembly started off on Monday with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal praising the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The LG told the legislators that the Delhi Government was dedicated to providing basic amenities to people. Leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta however, termed Baijal's speech as "nothing but a summary of recent publicity campaigns."

Accused of molesting students, Hindi teacher arrested

A teacher of a government school in Pataudi was arrested on the charges of sexually assaulting four of his female students. Villagers of Bhora Kalan had protested outside the government senior secondary school, demanding the arrest of 43-year-old Shiv Kumar. According to the police report, Kumar had molested the girls all through February and had threatened them with dire consequences if they complained.

Delhi to experience a chilly Holi this year

New Delhi might witness a chilly Holi this year as thunderstorms and dust showers are likely to hit Delhi and NCR between Thursday and Saturday. As an aftermath, temperatures are expected to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius. The day of Holi, Monday, is likely to be chilly as the minimum temperature expected is 11 degrees Celsius with a maximum of 24 degrees Celsius.

Gurugram

Rs. 14 lakh seized in demonetized currency

Gurugram Police discovered demonetized currency worth Rs. 14 lakh. The Crime Unit was acting on a tip-off and set a trap near the KMP flyover at Panchgaon. A car coming from Manesar was flagged down; a white polythene bag was found under the seat of the car. The bag contained 248 notes of Rs. 500 denomination and 1,312 notes of Rs. 1,000 denomination.

NMRC to offer bicycles on rent from its metro stations

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation is planning to set up bicycle stands outside metro stations across the city. According to officials, doing so would enable commuters to avail the same on rent for short trips. A study of of the footfall of existing commuters availing services of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been undertaken. Cycle stands will also be set up in housing-complexes.
