'GoT' prequel renewed for Season 2 ahead of S01 premiere

HBO has announced a second season renewal for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, even before its first season premieres. The prequel series, set to premiere on January 18, 2026, is inspired by George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. It follows the adventures of Ser Duncan "Dunk" the Tall and his squire Egg in Westeros about a century before Game of Thrones.

The renewal of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was announced in New York during a press presentation by Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content. He also revealed that House of the Dragon, another major Game of Thrones prequel, has been renewed for a fourth season. Its third season is set to premiere in summer 2026.
