The 49-year-old director also urged all the people who have been around him in the past couple of days to get tested and follow COVID-19 protocols. He completed a shooting schedule of his upcoming film Atrangi Re on Wednesday.
Rai is currently working on Atrangi Re which stars Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan. Khan stars in a double role in the film which is slated for a Valentine's Day release next year. Rai had made his directorial debut in 2007 with the movie Strangers and is best known for films like Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa.
In another tweet, Rai said his Twitter account was hacked "more than 24 hours" ago and was restored later. "Thank you @Twitter for getting me back my Twitter handle after being hacked for more than 24 hours. Really appreciate your efforts," the director wrote. The incident makes Rai the latest film personality whose social media account was hacked this month.
Prior to Rai, the social media accounts of choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan and actor Vikrant Massey were also hacked. Actor Urmila Matondkar and designer Susanne Khan's social media accounts were also recently compromised.
