Ahead of trailer launch, here's everything to know about 'Dasvi'
Abhishek Bachchan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Hindi movie, Dasvi. The movie, co-produced by Dinesh Vijan, also stars Nimrat Kaur and Yami Gautam Dhar in lead roles. Before the trailer for the Tushar Jalota directorial gets released on Wednesday (March 23), Junior Bachchan shared new character posters from the film on Tuesday. Here's everything we know about the venture.
We will talk of Bachchan's poster first
Starting with Bachchan's recently released poster, we get a glimpse at Ganga Ram Chaudhary (his character) with his hands joined together over his head. The Guru actor looks fitting in the role of a politician. "Passing Class 10 from jail is my right to education," read the tagline on his poster. Notably, the film will follow Chaudhary's efforts in qualifying matriculation from jail.
Here's what Kaur and Gautam Dhar are going to play
Coming to Kaur, she plays Chaudhary's wife and a chief minister, Bimla Devi Chaudhary. Donning a traditional dress, Bimla seems to be extremely disheartened and worried in the poster. Bachchan described her as "kati jeher." Lastly, Gautam Dhar plays an IPS officer named Jyoti Deswal, who has been described as a "sakht chhori." It seems Deswal will help Chaudhary in attaining his education.

A teaser was dropped last week
The new posters come a week after the teaser of Dasvi was released. Lasting 23 seconds, the clip showed Chaudhary asking his fellow inmates to not make noise while he prepares for Class 10 exams. To note, Dasvi marks Jalota's directorial debut. Ritesh Shah, Suresh Nair, and Sandeep Leyzell have written its script, while Leyzell, Maddock Films, and Shobhna Yadav are bankrolling the venture.
Here's more on 'Dasvi'
Interestingly, it is the first time Bachchan is going to share screen space with either of the female leads. Another exciting trivia is that Dasvi will mark Kaur's return to Hindi feature films, five years after 2016's Airlift. While Gautam Dhar last starred in A Thursday (2022), Bachchan's last flick was Bob Biswas (2021). Dasvi will hit JioCinema and Netflix on April 7.
