After Ludo, The Big Bull, Bob Biswas, Abhishek Bachchan is gearing up for his next OTT release, Dasvi. Also starring Yami Gautam Dhar and Nimrat Kaur, the social comedy is slated to release on Netflix and JioCinema on April 7 this year. Directed by debutant Tushar Jalota, the film has been produced by Dinesh Vijan via his Maddock Films, Shobhna Yadav, and Sandeep Leyzel.

    What does the teaser show?

Along with the announcement, Bachchan also shared a teaser. Lasting 23 seconds, the clip shows Ganga Ram Chaudhary (Bachchan), an uneducated politician, walking through the corridors of a prison telling other inmates to not make noise while he prepares for class 10 exams because he has the "right to education." Wearing a dhoti-kurta and talking in chaste Haryanvi, Bachchan's look is new and interesting.

Here's more on the cast of the film

While Bachchan plays an SSC-failed chief minister, Kaur plays a character named Bimla Devi Chaudhary and Dhar Gautam stars as IPS officer Jyoti Deswal. Notably, this marks Kaur's return to films after five years. She was last seen in Akshay Kumar-starrer, Airlift, in 2016. Meanwhile, Gautam Dhar was seen in three films recently, all OTT releases: A Thursday, Bhoot Police, and Ginny Weds Sunny.

What else do we know of 'Dasvi'?

Shooting for Dasvi had started in Agra last February and got finished after two months. The film's script has been written by Ritesh Shah (Pink, Batla House), Suresh Nair, and Leyzell. This is Bachchan's first film with both Gautam Dhar and Kaur. Gautam Dhar has worked with Bachchan's father, Amitabh Bachchan, in Sarkar 3 (2017). This is her second film with Vijan after Bala.

Bachchan has a busy year ahead

Separately, Bachchan has many interesting projects in his pipeline. He will be seen next in R Balki's Ghoomer with Saiyami Kher. The director and actor last collaborated on Paa, which also starred Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan. The team started shooting for the film last month. Bachchan also has season three of Breathe: Into The Shadows, the production of which began late last year.
