Ananya Panday cheers on Manish Malhotra's film debut with 'Gustaakh Ishq'
Ananya Panday just gave a big shoutout to Manish Malhotra for his third production as a producer, Gustaakh Ishq: Kuch Pehle Jaisa.
On Instagram, she wrote, "Wow, looking forward to watching this, Manish Malhotra. All the very best and congratulations to the entire team."
The movie hit theaters on November 28.
What's the story behind 'Gustaakh Ishq?'
This marks Malhotra's move from fashion to films, producing under his Stage5 Productions banner.
Directed by Vibhu Puri and set in 1990s Delhi and Punjab, the romantic drama stars Vijay Varma (his first feature in five years), Fatima Sana Shaikh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharib Hashmi.
The soundtrack features music by Vishal Bharadwaj with lyrics by Gulzar, and poetry orated by Naseeruddin Shah written by Ashok Singh Mizaz.
Why is it special for Vijay Varma?
The film had its world premiere at IFFI before releasing in theaters and is a comeback of sorts for Vijay Varma—he plays Nawabuddin Saifuddin Rahman, who tries to save his family's Urdu press by learning poetry from a retired poet (Shah) while falling for his daughter (Sana Shaikh).
