What's the story

Anshuman Jha has unveiled the poster for his upcoming action thriller, Lakadbaggha 2: The Monkey Business. The announcement was made on his birthday on Sunday. Produced by First Ray Films, the sequel will be released worldwide on Diwali 2026, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana: Part One. It is expected to premiere at several international film festivals between June and November before its global release. The first part, Lakadbaggha, was released in 2023.

Arjun Bakshi's mission expands beyond India

The sequel will continue the story of Arjun Bakshi, a Kolkata-based vigilante from the first film. This time, his mission expands beyond India to the forests of West Java in Indonesia, where he battles an international syndicate involved in wildlife trafficking. The film will also focus on the endangered Celebes crested macaque, an Indonesian primate that is also known as the North Sulawesi "Yaki Monkey."

The film also stars Sarah Jane Dias, Adil Hussain, and Vikram Kochhar. It features international martial arts actors such as Sunny Pang (Havoc) and Dan Chupong (Ong-Bak). Speaking about the film, Jha said, "This film is deeply personal to me...It is a small cinematic prayer to Lord Hanuman, the art of never giving up and a humble tribute to the extraordinary animals who share this planet with us."
