Born in 1963, Adil Hussain was born in Assam in an Assamese Muslim family. In his childhood, Hussain acted in school plays and left home at the age of 18 to pursue studies at B. Borooah College, Guwahati, where he started acting in college plays and mimicked famous Bollywood actors. He worked as a stand-up comedian for six years, followed by a stint at a mobile theater and some local cinema. He studied at the National School of Drama from 1990-1993 and also studied at Drama Studio London. After returning back to India in 1994, he worked at ‘Hengul Theater’ in Assam for three years and then started his stage career in Delhi. He made his Bengali film debut in 2004 as a lead actor with Soha Ali Khan in the period drama ‘Iti Srikanta.’ On television, he played the lead role in the detective series ‘Jasoos Vijay.’ Hussain has starred in Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Malayalam, French, Norwegian, and English films.
