Articles about Ashish Vidyarthi
Indian cinema has always celebrated its heroes. Villains are almost always tools to make the hero look good. However, every now and then, certain actors catch the attention of an average Indian film fan for their portrayal of the anti-hero. Ashish Vidyarthi is one of those few. Born on June 19, 1962, in Thalassery, Kerala, Vidyarthi moved to Delhi along with his parents at the age of seven. He began his acting career through TV serials. He appeared in serials in different regional languages before appearing in the hit serial ‘Ghutan’. He made his film debut in the Kannada film ‘Anand’ in 1986. He then went on to appear in movies in languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, etc., including ‘1942: A Love Story,' ‘Naajayaz,’ ‘Barfi!,’ etc. In 1995, he won a National Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘Droh Kaal’ (1994). His portrayal of Ramanbhai in the 1996 film ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin’ won him the Star Screen Award for Best Villain.
