Confirmed! Anushka Sharma to star in 'Satte Pe Satta' remake
Anushka Sharma, who has been on a break for some time now, seems to have finalized her next project. According to media reports, the Sui Dhaaga actress has given her nod to the much talked-about remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini's cult classic, Satte Pe Satta. The reports further suggested that Anushka will be paired opposite Hrithik Roshan in the movie. Here's more.
As per a report published in SpotboyE, Anushka will be stepping into Hema's shoes for the movie. The report also suggested that Hrithik would be reprising Big B's dual role of Ravi Anand/Babu. The makers have also, apparently, approached Preity Zinta for this remake. The dimpled-beauty will be essaying the role of Seema Singh (played by Ranjeeta Kaur) in the movie, reports said.
To note, Anushka wasn't the first choice for the makers to play Indu R. Anand. Earlier, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were approached for the same. On the other hand, before roping in Hrithik for the movie, Ajay Devgn was considered to be a perfect choice for Amitabh's role. However, he turned down the offer owing to his personal relationship with the Bachchans.
Reportedly, Ajay feared that reprising the veteran actor's role on the big screen might affect their personal terms. In fact, he emphasized that he'll never feature in a remake of Bachchan's movies. "Ajay has tremendous respect for Amitabh. Also, he considers Abhishek as his younger brother, to be doing a movie which could put stress on the relationships," a source was quoted as saying.
As of now, the makers are hunting for the remaining cast of the remake. According to the SpotboyE report, television actor Nakuul Mehta and Darsheel Safary (of Taare Zameen Par fame) have been zeroed in to play Hrithik's brothers in the movie. However, an official announcement about the cast hasn't been made. The movie is being jointly made by Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan.
