Rose, Bruno Mars's 'APT' is Apple's Song of the Year
What's the story
BLACKPINK member Rose and global superstar Bruno Mars have bagged the title of Apple Music's top song of 2025 with their hit track APT. The news was announced as part of Apple's year-end charts for 2025, called Replay'25. The song topped four categories: most-read lyrics, global radio, Shazam, and global streaming. Golden by HUNTR/X from K-pop Demon Hunters ranked fourth in Apple Music's Top 100: Lyrics.
Chart-topping success
More about 'APT's year-end charts
The song APT also topped several other end-of-year charts on Apple Music. It was the first No. 1 for both Rose and Mars on the global songs chart. The track also topped the Shazam Global Radio Spins chart, Top 100: Global Radio chart (which tracks radio station play globally), and Apple's most-read lyrics charts. Rachel Newman, co-head of Apple Music, said this success is a reminder that great songs transcend borders.

Other top songs on Apple Music's global chart
Following APT on the global songs chart were Kendrick Lamar and SZA's Luther in second place, and Mars's collaboration with Lady Gaga, Die With a Smile, in third. Lamar's Not Like Us secured fourth place after previously topping the chart in 2024. Billie Eilish rounded out the top five with Birds of a Feather. Lamar's GNX album kept listeners engaged; five of his songs made it to the global chart's Top 25.
Song inspiration
'APT' was inspired by a Korean drinking game
Earlier this year, Rose shared behind-the-scenes moments with Mars on Instagram and expressed her gratitude for the song's success on its first anniversary. In an interview, she revealed that APT is based on her favorite Korean drinking game played with friends back home. The song was created after she taught the game to her studio crew, who loved it, especially when she started the chant.
