Aspiring actor duped and blackmailed with altered photos

Entertainment

An 18-year-old aspiring actress was tricked by scammers pretending to be film industry pros.
They promised her a role in a fake web series, asked for money for travel and medical expenses, and later threatened to leak morphed obscene images if she didn't pay more.
The case has been reported to DN Nagar Police in Mumbai.

How the scam unfolded

The victim was first contacted on June 11 by someone calling himself "Bhavesh" from "GM Studio," who offered her an acting role.
After sharing her portfolio, she was introduced to a supposed co-actor—actually the same scammer using a different name—who convinced her to pay ₹7,836 for fake expenses.
When they met in person, the threats escalated: Bhavesh demanded ₹40,000 and used doctored images as blackmail.
Disturbed by ongoing threats and calls from multiple numbers, she filed a police complaint on June 17.
Police have registered a case under cyber fraud and blackmail laws; investigations are underway.
