    What's the story

The stars seem to have finally aligned the right way.

Acclaimed singer Atif Aslam is set to make his South Indian cinema singing debut with a song in the upcoming Malayalam film Haal, reported OTTPlay.

The romantic musical stars actor Shane Nigam, best known for his role in RDX.

An anonymous source told the portal, "Atif Aslam will be singing one track from Haal. The recording took place abroad and has been wrapped up this month."

    Selection

Aslam was the first choice for the film

Aslam, known for his chart-topping hits like Pehli Nazar and Tera Hone Laga Hoon, was the first choice for the film's team due to his unique vocals.

The source added, "Everyone in the team had Atif Aslam's voice in mind because of its unique vocals and the memorable soulful songs he has given us in the past."

The soundtrack of Haal is composed by newcomer Nandhagopan V while the lyrics have been penned by Neeraj Kumar and Mridul Meer.

    Comeback

The film will mark his comeback to Indian cinema

This project will reportedly mark Aslam's comeback to the Indian film industry after a seven-year hiatus following the ban on Pakistani artists in India.

Haal, set to begin filming on May 5, introduces Vaidhya Sakshi as the lead in her Malayalam debut.

Newcomer director Prashanth Vijayakumar is at the helm of Haal, with Sreejith Sarang overseeing editing and Prasanth Madhav managing art direction.

It is slated for a 2024 release, although an exact date has not yet been confirmed.

    Production

Revisit Aslam's exceptional career in Bollywood

Aslam got his first break in Bollywood through the song Woh Lamhe Woh Baatein from Zeher.

Post that, he lent his voice to several characters such as Dil Diyan Gallan, Jeene Laga Hoon, Jeena Jeena, Bakhuda Tumhi Ho, and Allah Duhai Hai, among others.

He has worked with top music composers such as Pritam, Sachin-Jigar, and Mithoon, among others.

Notably, it was earlier reported that he has a song in the upcoming Indian film Love Story of 90's, too.
