Banerjee autopsy confirms seawater suffocation as CID opens probe
Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, 42, tragically drowned on March 29 after allegedly venturing into the sea alone post-shoot at Talsari near the Odisha border.
The autopsy confirmed he died from suffocation caused by seawater and sand in his lungs and esophagus.
Now, West Bengal's CID will officially investigate what happened.
Adhikari orders probe after family's allegations
Rahul's family wasn't convinced by the initial reports: they pointed out inconsistencies in the crew's statements and said the shoot didn't have proper permissions.
Responding to their concerns, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari ordered CID to step in and immediately send the file through the DGP to the state Home Secretary, so that the CID can take over this case.
Odisha has also set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for this case.
Adhikari plans coastal safety boost
After this incident, Adhikari announced plans to beef up safety along coastal areas: more sea guards (up from just 63) and better pay for them, hoping steps like these will help prevent future tragedies.
