Based on Asghar Wajahat's acclaimed play
Originally titled Lahore 1947, Batwara 1947 is based on Asghar Wajahat's acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. The music has been composed by AR Rahman with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar. The film was initially scheduled for a 2025 release but was postponed due to post-production work. It will now hit theaters on August 14, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. It will clash with Awarapan 2 at the box office.
