Box office: 'Kantara' becomes highest-grossing Indian film globally

Rishab Shetty's "Kantara: Chapter 1" just wrapped up its time in theaters and smashed records, pulling in ₹615 crore across India.
With a worldwide total of ₹832.42 crore—including ₹110.50 crore from overseas—it's now the highest-grossing Indian film globally, and stands as the second-biggest Kannada hit ever after "KGF: Chapter 2."

Film's weekend numbers were impressive, too

Even in its fifth week, "Kantara" kept drawing crowds, adding another ₹13.3 crore to its domestic tally despite fresh competition and streaming options.
Weekend numbers stayed solid—₹1.85 crore on Friday and peaking at ₹3.65 crore by Sunday—showing that fans kept coming back right up until the end.
