Can't use my face without consent: Jaya Bachchan to HC

Entertainment

The Delhi High Court just ruled that no one can use Jaya Bachchan's name, face, or voice for commercial purposes without her say-so.
Justice Manmeet PS Arora summed it up, noting that movie posters are a different story since their copyright belongs to the film producers.

What led to the ruling

Jaya Bachchan went to court after her lawyer argued that her morphed images, AI-generated videos, and even merch with her face were being sold online—all without permission.
The court has now restrained entities from using her likeness this way but said film posters are still fair game for producers.

Similar cases filed by other celebrities

The court also asked Bachchan to fix some typos in her complaint and send notices to more parties—including the Union of India.
This case is part of a bigger trend: recently, celebs like Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan have all won similar fights over their personality rights.
