The last rites of veteran actor Satish Shah (74), who passed away on Saturday due to kidney failure, were conducted at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai's Vile Parle West area on Sunday. Many Bollywood and television industry colleagues, including his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-stars Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, Rajesh Kumar, and Ratna Pathak Shah, attended the funeral.

Shah's funeral was also attended by Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Deepak Parashar, Niel Nitin Mukesh, Avatar Gill, and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, among others. On Saturday, Pandit shared the news of Shah's demise on Instagram and revealed that the actor passed away due to kidney failure. "He suddenly fell ill at home... His body will be brought to his residence in Bandra," he said in a video.

The news of Shah's demise has left a void in the entertainment industry. Actor R Madhavan, who worked with him on Ghar Jamai, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram. He wrote, "Satish Ji we make the Gods laugh out loud as they admire their own creation." Kajol remembered him as someone whose laughter would echo forever. Farah Khan said he was a "joy to know and work with."

Shah was married to designer Madhu Shah. Veteran actor Sachin Pilgaonkar told News18, "Unfortunately, even Madhu isn't well. She has Alzheimer's." "This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful." "I received a message from him at 12:56pm today, which means that he was absolutely fine [then]." That I'm in shock is an understatement."
