What's the story

Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence case against her husband, Austrian hotelier and entrepreneur Peter Haag. The complaint was filed under the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, accusing Haag of domestic violence, cruelty, and manipulation, reported NDTV. A Mumbai court has issued a formal notice to Haag in response to Jaitly's petition. Further details about the allegations and upcoming hearings are awaited.

Family details

Jaitly and Haag's marriage and family

Jaitly and Haag got married in 2011 in Austria and welcomed twin sons in March 2012. In 2017, they welcomed another set of twins but faced an unimaginable tragedy when one of the infants died due to a hypoplastic heart condition. The couple has largely stayed out of the limelight over the years. According to ANI, Jaitly has sought damages of ₹50 crore owing to her loss of source of income and properties.

Legal intervention

Jaitly's previous legal plea regarding her brother

The domestic violence case comes on the heels of another legal plea by Jaitly. Last month, she approached a Delhi court seeking intervention in her brother Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly's case. She alleged that he had been "illegally abducted and detained" in the United Arab Emirates where he has lived since 2016. The Delhi court subsequently directed authorities to ensure that the family can contact him and facilitate communication with both Jaitly and his wife.
