The much-anticipated romantic drama Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, was released on Friday (June 19). Directed by Homi Adajania, the film is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit Cocktail. After completing its theatrical run, it will stream on Netflix, though its premiere date has yet to be announced.

Its songs, such as Jab Talak and Mashooqa, composed by Pritam, helped increase the buzz ahead of release. The movie is backed by Maddock Films and Luv Films.

On Friday, Cocktail 2 faced stiff competition from several other films, including Hollywood and regional cinema releases. These included Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Maa Inti Bangaaram, Pixar Animation Studios's Toy Story 5, the Malayalam film Balan: The Boy, and the Korean horror thriller Colony. The rom-com has been written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain.
