'Chhapaak': Deepika Padukone gets emotional on first day of shoot
From walking down the red carpet to acting, Deepika Padukone never disappoints her fans with her reigning presence. And now, the Padmavati of Bollywood is back with a bang with her new movie, Chhapaak. The actress has started shooting for the movie, which is based on an acid attack survivor. Reportedly, she broke down while shooting for the first scene. Here's what we know.
Directed by Meghna Gulzaar, the movie is based on Laxmi Agarwal, who survived a brutal acid attack by a jilted lover. Vikrant Massey will be seen essaying an important role in the movie. Notably, Deepika, who is also producing the movie, announced it on 24 December 2018. It is set to be released on January 10, 2020.
Speaking about what happened on the first day of the shoot, a source said the movie is an emotional roller-coaster for Deepika and she broke down. "It happened when she was shooting for the first scene and having discussions with the filmmaker. However, Deepika was quick to regain her composure and the shoot proceeded nicely," the source added. The first schedule has been completed.
The movie tells the gritty story of Laxmi, whose life was smashed into smithereens after the attack. Speaking about the movie, Laxmi said she never thought a biopic would be made on her and that Deepika would depict her. "I just want to say that this film will be a tight slap on that attacker who thought he has ruined my life," said Laxmi.
It is not the first time that Deepika Padukone has played the role of a powerful woman. She played powerful characters in Padmaavat, Piku, and Bajirao Mastani. Considering how she immerses herself into her character, we can't wait to watch Chhapaak.
