Diljit Dosanjh's film breaks records in Pakistan
"Sardaar Ji 3" is a Punjabi horror-comedy starring Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, and Pakistani actor Hania Aamir.
Released internationally on June 27 but banned in India due to political tensions, the film still managed to pull huge crowds and set new benchmarks.
'Sardaar Ji 3' stands as 3rd-biggest Punjabi opener globally
Despite skipping Indian theaters, "Sardaar Ji 3" earned around ₹4.5 crore ($500K) on its opening day in Pakistan—beating Salman Khan's "Sultan" for the highest-ever Indian film opening there.
It quickly crossed ₹11 crore worldwide in just two days and now stands as the third-biggest Punjabi opener globally after "Jatt & Juliet 3" and "Carry On Jatta."
'SJ3' ban in India cost us 40% revenue: Producer
The film's release followed India's ban on Pakistani artists amid diplomatic issues, which producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu says cost them about 40% of potential revenue.
Diljit Dosanjh pointed out that filming wrapped before tensions escalated but shared that global audiences have shown great appreciation for the movie despite all hurdles.
