What's the story

The mysterious death of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager, Disha Salian, has taken a new turn. Her father, Satish Salian, has filed a new plea in the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation. Satish alleged his daughter was assaulted and murdered, and that her death was concealed by a politically motivated cover-up. He has urged an FIR against Shiv Sena's Aaditya Thackeray and a CBI probe.

Petition details

Satish's petition challenges Mumbai Police's initial findings

The petition filed by Satish questions the preliminary conclusions of the Mumbai Police which termed Salian's death an accident. Reportedly, Salian fell from the 14th floor of a high-rise apartment in Malad, leading to what was classified as an Accidental Death Report. However, her father has alleged discrepancies in the case, including an unusually clean crime scene and the absence of injuries consistent with a fall from such height.

Allegations

'Mumbai Police hastily closed death as a case of suicide'

The petition also claims that the Mumbai Police closed the case in a "hasty" manner ignoring vital "forensic evidence," eyewitness accounts, and "circumstantial proof." Sr. Salian's lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, confirmed that the petition is being formally registered with the court.

Demands

Salian's father sought action against influential figures

The petition also calls for action against some Bollywood actors and former mayor Kishori Pednekar. Separately, in an interview with Republic, Rajput's father, KK Singh, claimed, "Sushant was not the kind of person who could commit suicide." He also alleged that while Salian's death was officially termed an accident, she was actually pushed. Salian passed away on June 8, 2020, just days before Rajput's passing (June 14, 2020), thereby sparking speculation that the two incidents were linked.
