Drug ban enforced in Malayalam film industry
Starting June 26, everyone working in the Malayalam film industry—from actors to technicians—will have to sign a "no drugs" affidavit.
This new rule, set by the Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA), bans drug use on sets and in official accommodations.
If anyone breaks it and causes losses, they'll have to pay up.
This rule follows several high-profile drug arrests
The change comes after some high-profile drug arrests rocked the industry—including actors and directors caught in 2025.
There were even claims that part of movie budgets was being spent on drugs for sets.
With support from key film bodies, this collective push is all about keeping productions running smoothly and making sure work environments stay safe and professional.
