What's the story

The filming of Eetha, the biopic of legendary Tamasha artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, has been halted for two weeks after lead actor Shraddha Kapoor fractured her toe. Mid-Day reported that the incident happened while she was performing Lavani, a folk dance form popularized by Narayangaonkar. The movie is directed by Laxman Utekar.

Injury details

Kapoor's injury and immediate aftermath

The sequence has been composed by Ajay-Atul, where Kapoor dresses in a Nauvari saree, heavy jewelry, and a kamarpatta. To portray a young Vithabai, she also reportedly gained over 15kg. A source revealed that while performing the dance steps to the beats of the dholki, she lost her balance and sustained the injury.

Filming adjustments

Kapoor's determination to continue filming despite injury

Despite the injury, Kapoor was keen on not wasting any time and suggested shooting close-up scenes. After returning to Mumbai, the team shot some emotional sequences on a set in Madh Island. However, after a few days, her pain worsened, forcing the shoot to stop. The unit will regroup after she has completely recovered. The actor was last seen in Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank (2024).
