Fake 'Queen' director Vikas Bahl impersonated on social media
Mumbai Police are investigating someone who pretended to be filmmaker Vikas Bahl on Instagram, using a fake account to lure aspiring actresses with bogus acting offers by advertising auditions for a period starting October 2024.
Bahl, known for Queen and Super 30, filed a complaint in November 2024 after a friend tipped him off in late September.
How the scam worked—and who got targeted
Aspiring actresses Aishwarya Sharma and Neeta Parayani shared how the impersonator sent them suspicious messages—Sharma even received inappropriate demands from someone claiming to be Bahl's contact.
Parayani was fooled into sharing personal info by someone posing as a Netflix executive.
Their reports helped spark the police investigation, which is now using digital clues from Instagram and WhatsApp to track down the culprit.
