Govinda shot in leg after gun misfires, hospitalized in Mumbai
Bollywood actor Govinda was hospitalized early Tuesday morning after his licensed revolver accidentally discharged and injured his leg. The incident occurred at his Juhu residence while he was preparing for a trip to Kolkata for a shoot. "He had placed his licensed revolver on the table while packing. The revolver was loaded with six bullets. During the packing process, the revolver accidentally fell and misfired, with one bullet hitting his leg from behind," a police officer told media.
Govinda's condition stable after surgery, investigation underway
Govinda was quickly taken to CritiCare Hospital, Mumbai, where he had surgery to get the bullet out of his leg. Thankfully, his condition is stable and he's out of danger now. The Juhu Police are looking into the incident and will soon take statements from both Govinda and his wife. His manager, Shashi Sinha, said, "He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg."
Police to probe actor's early morning gun-cleaning routine
Notably, the veteran actor and Shiv Sena leader's wife, Sunita Ahuja was not in Mumbai when the incident happened. The cops are likely to probe why Govinda was cleaning his revolver at the crack of dawn, at around 4:45am. Meanwhile, fans have flooded social media with their shock and concern over the incident, but they're also relieved to know that the actor is now safe.
