Haasan revives 'Sandiyar' with director Kumar and gritty poster

Kamal Haasan is bringing back his once-shelved film Sandiyar, teaming up with director S.U. Arun Kumar (of Chithha fame).
The reveal came with a gritty poster showing Haasan in a tough new look, hinting at some serious drama ahead.
'Sandiyar' originally shelved over caste controversy
Sandiyar was first announced in 2003 but got pulled after political backlash over its caste themes, so much so that it was renamed Virumandi back then.
Now, with music by Anirudh Ravichander and action from the Anbariv duo, the project is officially on again under Raaj Kamal Films International.
After his last film Thug Life didn't click at the box office, this marks a big return for Haasan to Tamil cinema.
