Huma Qureshi wants equal punishment for online and street harassment

Entertainment

Actor Huma Qureshi is calling out the double standards in how harassment is punished.
On The Male Feminist podcast, she said if someone slides into her DMs with inappropriate messages or comments, "aapko bhi wahi saza milni chahiye jo kisi ko badtameezi on the roadpe milti hai"—basically, online creeps should face the same consequences as those misbehaving in public.

Why she's speaking up

Qureshi pointed out that online harassment can be just as damaging as what happens on the street, yet laws are much stricter about street misconduct.
She shared her own experiences of getting unsolicited messages and gross requests for bikini photos, calling them "disgusting" and a sign of how normalized sexism has become.

Her message to everyone

She urged people to stop judging women based on appearances and to treat everyone with respect—online or offline.
For her, it's about making sure dignity and safety aren't limited by gender or platform.
