What's the story
Jaideep Ahlawat, who recently starred in Amazon Prime's The Family Man 3 as Rukma, the antagonist to Manoj Bajpayee's Srikant Tiwari, has spoken about his experience of playing a villain. In an interview with Mid-Day, he said he found it "liberating" to play a character without having to worry about "conscience or consequences." This is Ahlawat's second project in Nagaland after Paatal Lok Season 2 where he played Hathiram Chaudhary.
Character insight
Ahlawat's character perspective in 'The Family Man 3'
"I finally got the chance to let loose without worrying about conscience or consequences. It felt liberating in a twisted way to play someone like Rukma." Ahlawat also addressed the convergence of his characters in Paatal Lok and Family Man. He said, "There's a spot where I was standing as Hathiram once, and then later as Rukma. It's the same place, two different men... It's an interesting feeling of being in the same place, but living a completely different life."
Reunion

Ahlawat also expressed his excitement about reuniting with Bajpayee after over a decade. The two had previously worked together in Chittagong (2012) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He said, "Working with Manoj is like going back in time. There is a discipline that he brings." "Doing an action scene together after all these years was a thrill. There is the greed to work with him, and this show is a dream come true!"
Favorite scene
Ahlawat's favorite scene from 'The Family Man 3'
When asked about his favorite scene from The Family Man 3, Ahlawat pointed to an elaborate action sequence in the first episode. The gripping chase sequence between him and Bajpayee was shot without any stuntmen involved. He said, "Manoj was driving the car, and I was riding the motorcycle [chasing him]. The camera didn't have to cheat; it traveled from him all the way to me." "That's my most memorable scene in this season," he smiled.
