'Parmanu' war intensifies: John files three criminal complaints against Prernaa
The battle for the ownership of upcoming 'Parmanu - The Story Of Pokhran' has taken another sour turn. The lead actor of the film, John Abraham, who is also one of the producers, has filed three criminal complaints against co-producers KriArj Entertainment's Prernaa Arora. John's JA Entertainment had previously called out Prernaa for repeated delays in payments.
Informing about their legal action against Prernaa, JA Entertainment said in a statement, "John Abraham, Director of M/s JA Entertainment has filed three criminal complaints against Prernaa Arora and her company, KriArj Entertainment for cheating, breach of trust, defamation and offenses committed under the Information Technology Act." JA Entertainment also added that Pernaa's company owe them Rs. 35 crore.
"This is with reference to the media reports stating that an FIR has been registered at the Khar Police Station against John and his production house. We would like to categorically state that this statement is factually incorrect and misleading," the statement further said.
On March 31, JA Entertainment said in a statement that it has terminated the 'Parmanu' contract with KriArj owing to non-payment of dues and multiple postponements of film's release. KriArj then went on dub John's notice as 'false and illegal'. Later, John's company released a fresh statement countering the claims by Prernaa's banner.
As of now, the release date of 'Parmanu' has been fixed as May 4. If there isn't any further delay, it will be clashing with Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor starrer '102 Not Out'. Also starring Diana Penty, the film was initially scheduled to release on December 8 last year. 'Parmanu' is based on India's nuclear tests in Pokhran.
