'Our bond is destiny': Juhi shares cherished memories with SRK
What's the story
As Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his 60th birthday on Sunday, Juhi Chawla shared some fond memories from their time together. The duo has worked in several films, including Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992) and Bhootnath (2008). Chawla recalled her initial surprise at Khan's appearance when they first met for Raju Ban Gaya... "Vivek Vaswani told me my hero looks like Aamir Khan. So I was in for a shock when I saw SRK with hair up to his eyebrows."
Actor's dedication
'He worked relentlessly doing 3 shifts a day'
Despite her initial surprise, Chawla was soon impressed by Khan's dedication. She told Hindustan Times, "Once I started working with him, I realized he was not like a newcomer at all...he worked relentlessly doing three shifts a day." She also recalled how director Aziz Mirza would ask for Khan's input if a scene wasn't up to the mark. "Scenes that were a mix of romance and fun worked best for us, and we went on to do many films together."
Persuasive charm
Khan's persuasive skills left an impression on Chawla
Chawla humorously warned that one needs to be careful around Khan because of his persuasive skills. "He has a way with words and can convince you to do anything." She recalled how he convinced her to sign Duplicate despite her initial reservations about the role. "I remember SRK making me sit on the steps and convincing me for two hours that I should sign the film."
Lasting bond
On their relationship beyond films
Chawla also spoke about their off-screen relationship, which has seen its fair share of ups and downs. "God has kept us connected even through the IPL. Rather than design our bond is because of destiny," she said. The two actors co-own the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
