Kanika Kapoor tests COVID-19 positive for fifth time; condition stable
Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) disease for the fifth consecutive time. However, she is not showing any symptoms and her condition is stable, doctors at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, where the singer is admitted, said in a statement. Kanika was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus earlier this month. Here are more details.
Lately, there have been speculations that the 41-year-old singer's health is deteriorating. However, Dr. RK Dhiman, the director at the SGPGIMS, brushed off these rumors. He said Kanika is asymptomatic (not showing any symptoms), and is "doing well." He added that the singer is also taking food on time. Furthermore, Kanika also updated her fans via an Instagram post on Monday.
In the Instagram post, Kanika clarified she is not in the ICU and hoped that her next test would come out to be negative. She wrote, "Going off to bed. Sending you all loving vibes. Stay safe you guys. Thank you for your concern but I am not in the ICU. I am fine. Waiting to go home to my kids and family...miss them!
The Baby Doll singer was diagnosed with the deadly virus on March 20. She had traveled back to Mumbai from UK on March 9. She then traveled to Kanpur and Lucknow. However, the singer received much backlash for hiding her travel history and even attending parties upon her return to India. But fortunately, over 60 of her contacts have since tested negative for coronavirus.
Furthermore, an FIR was also filed against Kanika for negligent and malignant acts likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life. She was booked under IPC sections 269, 270, and 188. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic has so far claimed the lives of 32 in India and infected 1,251. Globally, the fatal virus has killed 38,720 and infected nearly 8 lakh.
