Kapoor says he almost turned down 'Ramayana' role before fatherhood
Ranbir Kapoor, set to play Lord Rama in the upcoming film Ramayana, admitted he almost turned down the part because of self-doubt.
But after some soul-searching (and becoming a dad) he realized taking on this iconic role was the right move for him both personally and professionally.
He told the Los Angeles teaser screening interaction that fatherhood made him see things differently, saying, That fear very quickly turned into gratitude because opportunities like this was needed very much in my life. I was in a period in my life where I needed to change my life and lifestyle. I became a father for the first time. I think the sweet coincidence of playing Lord Ram and becoming a father was needed for a turning point in my life.
Kapoor sought truthful portrayal of Rama
To prepare, Ranbir dove deep into emotional and spiritual work to bring authenticity to Lord Rama's character.
He emphasized wanting to honestly portray why Rama is so widely respected, saying it is more about understanding it and being very truthful.
