'2 States' fame director Abhishek Varman will helm 'Kalank'.

Set in the 1940s, 'Kalank' is extremely close to Karan's heart. "It has been an emotional journey for me. It's a gem of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago and a film that was in the pre-production stage helmed by my father." "I'm now proud to pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of director Abhishek Varman," Karan added.
Jointly backed by three of the biggest production houses of Bollywood - Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, 'Kalank' will go on floors by the end of this month and will release on April 19 next year. One of the major highlights of the film remains the onscreen reunion of Sanjay and Madhuri after 25 years.
'Kalank' was supposed to be Sridevi's next big screen outing. However, destiny had other plans. Later, Madhuri came on board for the film. Janhvi Kapoor had penned a thank you note to Madhuri for taking up her late mother's role.
