Low ratings, poor reviews: The downfall of 'With Love, Meghan'
What's the story
Meghan Markle's new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, has garnered fewer eyeballs than her 2022 series Harry & Meghan.
The show, which debuted on March 4, entered Netflix's Top 10 list but failed to stream as much as her last collaborative project with Prince Harry.
Data analytics company Samba TV disclosed that With Love, Meghan drew 526K US households in its initial five days.
In contrast, Harry & Meghan drew 2.1 million in roughly the same period.
Comparison
'Harry & Meghan' was a greater success
With Love, Meghan ranked No. 10 globally with 12.6 million hours in the first six days, while Harry & Meghan had set a record with 81.5 million hours watched.
The latter became the number 2 English language show in four days.
Notably, With Love, Meghan saw its most success among 45-54-year-old viewers.
The Sussexes, who signed a $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020, have also worked on Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and Harry's Polo documentary.
Viewership demographic
The show was successful in these nations
The show also enjoyed notable geographical success in the Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.
However, its popularity was short-lived in the US, UK, and Canada where it slipped down the Top 10 list after three days and subsequently fell off over the weekend.
Despite the lower numbers, Netflix has greenlit Season 2.
Harsh criticism
Tina Brown's scathing review of 'With Love, Meghan'
Additionally, journalist and Princess Diana's former biographer Tina Brown has harshly criticized the show, calling it a failure, reported New York Post.
She believes Markle has an "unerring instinct for getting it wrong" and is "impatient."
"What Harry and Meghan forgot was that the great thing about being royal is you can be as boring as f-k for as long as you live and still be treated as the most important person in the room," she said.
Chef slammed
Chef faces backlash over Markle criticism
In another recent update, celebrity chef Jameson Stocks shared his thoughts on Markle's Netflix show, calling it "terrible."
"Everything — the music is quite slow, it's quite lethargic, it's quite painful to watch," he said.
However, his comments led to a wave of backlash, including death threats.
Stocks told New York Post, "I have absolutely zero interest in anything to try and bring her down. My only thing was I didn't like the show and that was it."
