'National Crush' Girija Oak speaks out on viral fame and fake photos
Girija Oak, a well-known face in Marathi and Hindi films, recently shot to internet fame after her interview with The Lallantop went viral—earning her the title of 'National Crush.'
But along with the buzz, she's had to deal with morphed obscene photos being circulated online.
Addressing this, Oak called out how unfair it is to link such images to her past on-screen intimate scenes, saying, "Somebody morphing my face on obscene pics, and me willingly subscribing to doing an intimate scene on screen are two different things."
Breaking stereotypes & looking ahead
Oak also opened up about being typecast because of her Marathi background and hopes filmmakers will see beyond labels.
She shared that while all this sudden attention is a bit amusing—especially the blue sari pictures going viral—she's optimistic it might lead to more meaningful roles and creative collaborations in the future.
