Why Nawazuddin Siddiqui initially disliked 'Gangs of Wasseypur'
Acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently revealed his initial scepticism about the 2012 film Gangs of Wasseypur. In a conversation with ANI, he confessed that upon viewing an early cut of the movie, he was left unimpressed and wondered, "Yeh kya bana diya hai yaar (What in the world has he made)." However, his perspective changed dramatically after watching the final, "refined" version at the Cannes Film Festival.
Siddiqui's praise for Kashyap's genius
Siddiqui, who portrayed the gangster Faisal Khan in the film, lauded director Anurag Kashyap as a "genius." He stated, "He changed the face of Indian cinema, and the entire world took notice. He might not be appreciated in his own country, but I'm sorry, the world knows what he has done." The actor emphasized that it was only after viewing the final cut at Cannes that he truly understood why "Anurag is Anurag."
Kashyap's critique of Siddiqui's performance in 'Gangs of Wasseypur'
In a previous interview, Siddiqui shared that Kashyap was not initially impressed with his acting choices for GOW "He said, 'Yeh kya kar raha hai? Kis tarah se kar raha hai? Overacting kyu kar raha hai? (What are you doing? How are you playing it? Why are you overacting?'") Despite this initial disagreement, the duo continued to collaborate on projects such as Raman Raghav 2.0 and Sacred Games. Meanwhile, Siddiqui is currently awaiting the release of his next film, Adbhut.
