Netflix's 'Operation Safed Sagar' injected 215cr into India says Sarandos
Netflix just dropped its biggest Indian series yet, Operation Safed Sagar, and it's not just about epic storytelling.
The show pumped over ₹215 crore ($24 million) into the Indian economy, according to Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.
It's a solid example of how global streaming can spark local jobs and business growth.
Plus, the premiere doubled as a celebration of Netflix's 10 years in India.
'Operation Safed Sagar' hired 4,000+ daily
The 115-day shoot stretched across 11 cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, and Manali, bringing in over 4,000 daily hires and more than 200 cast and crew members.
The production teamed up with more than 850 local businesses for everything from sets to catering.
On top of that, Netflix worked with 15 Indian VFX studios, employing nearly 1,200 artists, and its VFX and creative technology partnerships alone added more than $5 million (over ₹49 crore) to the economy.
Sarandos gave a shout-out to India's creative talent, and Netflix has launched more than 200 Indian Originals over the past decade.
