Despite rave reviews, Varun's 'October' stays low at box office

'October' was never meant to set the box office on fire. The fate of such kind of films relies on word of mouth. The Varun Dhawan-Banita Sandhu starrer had fetched extremely mixed reactions from the audience, thus, its opening weekend numbers are not up to the mark. On Sunday, 'October' raked in Rs. 7.74 crore, taking its three-day total to Rs. 20.25 crore.

A look at the opening weekend numbers of 'October'

#October witnessed ample growth on Sat and Sun, after a slow start on Fri morning/noon... While the trending is healthy, it’s all about maintaining the pace on weekdays now... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 7.74 cr. Total: ₹ 20.25 cr. India biz.

Varun, Banita garnered unanimous praise for their performances

The film may not have got a thumbs up from all the critics but they sure heaped praises on the lead pair for their stellar act. Notably, 'October' is being regarded as Varun's best performance till date. An unconventional tale of unconditional love, the Shoojit Sircar directorial follows the story of two hotel management trainees, Danish Walia and Shiuli Iyer.
