Janhvi Kapoor's 'Good Luck Jerry' heading for Disney+ Hotstar release?
Makers of the upcoming Bollywood film Good Luck Jerry starring Janhvi Kapoor have reportedly decided to go the OTT way! Reportedly, Disney+ Hotstar has bagged the movie's streaming rights, and the OTT giant is expected to announce its release date soon. The Sidharth Sengupta-directed dark comedy-drama is a Hindi remake of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila that starred Nayanthara in the lead role.
Apart from Kapoor, Good Luck Jerry features Deepak Dobriyal, Mita Vasisht, Neeraj Sood, and Sushant Singh. While other details are scarce—similar to the original 2018 film—it would revolve around a young woman who turns into a drug peddler to provide for her family. How she outsmarts the cops and impresses the drug racket's kingpin to improve the "business" forms the rest of the story.
Photos from the sets of Good Luck Jerry had made the rounds on social media earlier, upping our expectations of the film. To note, the movie's shooting process was wrapped way back in March 2021. Kapoor had shared a bunch of photos online with the film's cast and crew while announcing the same last year. Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has produced the project.
Meanwhile, Good Luck Jerry is not the only upcoming remake that Kapoor will be seen in. She is also set to star in Mili, which is a Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed 2019 Malayalam survival drama Helen. Her father, Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, will be bankrolling Mili which will be directed by Mathukutty Xavier, who had helmed the original version as well.
Separately, Kapoor has Dostana 2, bankrolled by Dharma Productions and co-starring Laksh Lalwani, in the pipeline too. The Ghost Stories actor is also busy with the shooting of Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Touted to be a sports drama, the film directed by Sharan Sharma will feature Rajkummar Rao and Kapoor in the lead. The movie is gearing up for release on October 7, 2022.
