What's the story

After killing two blackbucks in 1998, Salman Khan is finally going to prison. For five years, if the verdict holds. People are clueless what to feel. Happy? Relieved? Angry? In the years it took to convict him, the blackbuck could have been reborn and died again due to "natural causes," some pointed out. But they sure set Twitter afire with their wit and humor.

Here's what's happening in the next few years

Comedian Sorabh Pant gave us a likely picture of what's going to come next: "Today: #SalmanKhan convicted in the #BlackBuckPoachingCase. Later: Salman out on bail. Even Later: Salman launches "Being Black Buck" t-shirts. 3% profits go to charity. More Later: Salman fans applaud Salman for being a conservationist. "Tiger Innocent Hai" makes $2 billion." Going by precedent, very few would disagree.

'But blackbucks aren't cows!'

For now, there's joy. "In Black Buck's family, the celebrations has been started after Salman Khan convicted," tweeted @Madan_Chikna. @zoomphatak visualized the scenes in prison: "Judge- Salman Khan guilty for #BlackBuckPoachingCase. Lady officers at Jail- Saajan ji ghar aaye...Saajan ji ghar aaye...Dulhan kyu sharmaye...Saajan ji ghar aaye." @nowme_datta was just surprised: "The fuss over black bucks- Anyone would think they are cows."

Weren't they supposed to be 'Saath Saath'? What happened?!

Ramesh Srivats, known for his sarcasm, enacted the court scenario: Judge: "Why did you come to Jodhpur in 1998." Salman Khan: "To shoot..." Judge: "You have confessed. GUILTY." Salman Khan: "...Hum Saath Saath Hain." Judge: "You have confessed again. ALL OF YOU ARE GUILTY."

As long as justice was served...even after 20 years....

There were some who were just happy that justice was served. "No matter how old the case might be, or how popular the accused is, important the justice is finally being done in the case," tweeted journalist Rahul Kanwal. "So much talk about how Khan's image has changed. His charity, loyalty, blah blah. How does it matter to the blackbuck?" asked journalist Dhanya Rajendran.

Time to think of the more serious issues now?

And then there were those who vented over the "injustice": "Salman Khan convicted. While those responsible for killing thousands in Godhra riots, murder of Ishrat Jahan, Justice Loya, Sohrabuddin are FREE & rule the country..!" said writer Salman Nizami. "In a country where hardcore criminals are acquitted...CMs are encounter-specialists, an actor only because he's a super-star is convicted in #BlackBuckCase," posted writer Sadhavi Khosla.
